ATMA organizes exposure visit for South farmers


GANGTOK, 09 Oct: Agriculture Technology Management agency (ATMA) South Sikkim organized an exposure visit to Lower Sangdorjee (Azing’s Farm) at Hathidhunga, West Sikkim for the farmers of Menglee, Lower Namphok, lower Sripatam, upper Sripatam, Lower Gugyong and Upper Gagyong on 04 October.
As per a press release, a total of 65 people attended the programme including 6 panchayats from Manglee, Namphok, lower Sripatam, upper Sripatam, lower Gugyong and upper Gagyong and officials from ATMA South.
The programme was started with the welcome address delivered by Ramesh Dahal (BTM Namthang). Resource person, Azing Lepcha shared his experiences on integrated farming and encouraged the farmers towards organic farming.
During the farm visit, farmers were impressed by the systematic way of cultivation of different species of vegetables and fruits. Mr Lepcha has dairy, piggery and fishery units at his farm. Farmers were also encouraged to house their agricultural tools in a systematic way in the tool house.
