RAVANGLA, 09 Oct: Thirty homes constructed under the Reconstruction of Earthquake Damaged Rural Houses [REDRH] project funded by the Prime Minister’s special package for Sikkim were inaugurated in South Sikkim today. These houses came under the combined jurisdiction of Additional District Collector (Development), Namchi and Ravangla, an official press release informs.
The houses were handed over to the beneficiaries affected by the earthquake of 18 September, 2011. Ten houses at Temi Gram Vikas Kendra were handed over by the area MLA BS Pant while Sonam Gyatso, the Barfung MLA, inaugurated 4 houses completed under Ravangla GVK.
Similarly, the South Upadhakshya Devi Maya Baraily handed over seven houses under Namthang GVK while Zilla Panchayat and Gram Panchayat members inaugurated 5 houses under Sumbuk GVK, 3 houses under Sikkip GVK and one house at Namchi GVK.
With this, the number of houses completed under the REDRH scheme in South Sikkim has reached 266.
GVA Rabong, Sangam Rai informed that out of 137 REDRH constructions under Rabong GVK, a total of 37 houses have been completed and 70 houses are in the final stage while the remaining houses are at second and first stage of construction.
The beneficiaries also thanked the MLA and Chief Minister for the scheme.
