Three minor tremors felt in Sikkim this month


GANGTOK, 19 Dec: People in the capital again felt minor tremors early this morning. This is the third tremor felt by the people of Gangtok in this month so far. The website of India Meteorological Department shows that the tremor of ‘slight’ magnitude 3.7 on the Richter scale occurred at around 3:05:25 AM.
According to the website, the epicenter falls on Lat. 28.0°N Long. 88.2°E, somewhere at the Sikkim-Nepal border region.
The first tremor felt this month was on 09 December at around 10:56 PM of magnitude 3.7 on the Richter scale, which had the epicenter 27.9°N 88.2°E [Sikkim - Nepal Border region]. Likewise, Gangtokians felt another tremor in the early morning of 13 December at around 1:26 AM of magnitude 2.9 on the Richter scale with its epicenter at Gangtok. The last tremor of magnitude 4.5 was felt at around 8:20 PM on 14 December, which had the epicenter again at the Sikkim-Nepal border region.
