HRDD to conduct free winter coaching camps across the state


GANGTOK, 20 Dec: The Human Resource Development Department is organizing a free winter coaching camp for the students of class X and XII at every constituency from 02 January. The HRDD is organizing this 40-day long coaching camp for the second time after the first camp was conducted last winter.
The camp will have experienced teachers from different government schools and is scheduled to conclude on 10 February.
HRDD Secretary, CS Rao informed that there will be 31 centres for the coaching camp but some constituencies have asked for 2 centres, which is under process at the moment. The estimated cost of the camp is Rs 50 lakh. The department has also informed all the schools about the coaching camp.
“This coaching camp for the students of X and XII of government schools is the idea of the Chief Minister and the department had started it last winter”, the Secretary said.
He informed that last year the government schools recorded 84% pass percentage, which was better than the 81% recorded by private schools.
Mr Rao further mentioned that on the demand of schools which the CM has sanctioned the department is starting the science stream in 23 schools across the state from the coming session.
