SHRP demands CBI enquiry into bridge collapse

GANGTOK, 20 Dec: Sikkim Himali Rajya Parishad Party, at a meeting held today under the chairmanship of its president, AD Subba, observed a two-minute silence to mourn the victims of the Rangchang Bridge mishap, informs a press release issued by the general secretary, Tara Shrestha.

The party has demanded a CBI enquiry into the company which had taken up the construction contract along with BRO and GREF under whose supervision the bridge was constructed.
The party has alleged that such incidents reflect the inefficiency of the Government and the concerned Department. Alleging that the government has no concern for its public, the release blames the State Government for the mishap.
The party has demanded that the concerned department inspect the bridges which are 20-25 years old and accordingly either repair or replace them altogether, the release adds.
