GANGTOK, 05 May: A series of thefts have been reported from Pakyong involving thefts from a Manghim and also from a Shiv mandir located in Upper Aho. Along with the items and cash stolen from these religious places the miscreants also stole a music system from a car parked near the mandir.
According to reports the thefts took place during the intervening night of 02 and 03 May. Unknown persons reportedly broke into the Manghim and stole 3 tolas of gold, 4 pieces of silver worth 6 tolas, a bronze plate, a DVD player and Rs. 5,400 in cash.
Several items were also stolen from the Shiv mandir including 2 Saligrams, 2 bronze statues, 2 bells and a Shivling along with cash Rs. 50. Also reported stolen is the music system from a vehicle parked near the temple. While no one has been arrested the police have rounded up one suspect, a 16-year-old resident of Upper Aho.
