GANGTOK, 07 May: A team led by sitting MLA and the SDF candidate for Yangthang constituency, Chandra Maya Subba, toured Sindrabong under Darap-Nambu GPU in West Sikkim. The GPU comprises of Sang-khola, Barseybong, Bakchukey, Sindrabong, Pheng-dhang, Dhoban, Shosing, Chongri and Lungmo Dara.
A press release informs that the team reached on 30 April after an uphill walk of more than four hours from Tsetenthang village passing through thick forest, cliffs and crossing several log bridges. Ms Subba was accompanied by Sushil Tamang [West District Youth Convenor of the SDF], Rash Maya Subba [West District Cheli Vice Convenor], Pranay Subba [Panchayat president, Darap -Nambu GPU] , Chelis, youth and party workers.
Along the way, the team also visited the office of Sindrabung Khanchenzonga Eco-Tourism Committee (SKES) a beautiful village located by the Sangkhola river bank. There Treasurer of the society, Laku Tshering Bhutia in the presence of other members informed the team about the various initiatives taken up by (SKES) for promotion of tourism through Home stays & trekking along Singalila range, the release mentions.
Ms Subba interacted with the villagers and listened to their grievances. Some of the key concerns identified were construction of rural roads, improved electricity and water supply, etc. Ms Subba gave various suggestions and assured to take their concerns to higher authorities, it is added.
