GANGTOK, 04 May: State Disaster Relief Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Land Revenue & Disaster Management Department, CT Wangdi’s two-day tour of West Sikkim concluded today at Dentam Sub-Division Office.
A press release informs that on the first day, the Secretary paid a visit to the newly created SDM Office at Yoksam. He also had an overview of SDRF and PMRF works being undertaken in Yoksam Sub-Division.
On the second day, he carried out an inspection of repair work being done from PMRF fund at Singsore Bridge along Dentam-Uttarey Road. Later, he visited the newly created SDM Office at Dentam where he had an elaborate discussion on the modalities of making the newly created offices more effective and meaningful.
The District Collector, West and the respective Sub-Divisional Magistrates took this opportunity to apprise the Secretary about the requirement of manpower and infrastructural facilities in the newly created offices.
While expressing satisfaction on what has been done till date in order to make the new offices fully functional, Mr Wangdi insisted on starting all the public works that an SDM is empowered to but has not started as yet. He also expressed his full support and cooperation from his level, the release mentions.
The Secretary’s visit was mainly focussed on having a preview of monsoon preparedness of the District as well as to see the functioning of newly created SDM offices.
During his visit, he was accompanied by Tshewang Gyachho [District Collector, West District]; Prabhakar Rai [Dy. Secretary, LR&DM]; SDM Yoksam and SDM Dentam, Rinzing Choden and Dhiraj Subedi; Revenue Officer, Gyalshing and other field functionaries of the District. On his way back to Gangtok, the Secretary was scheduled to pay a similar visit to the newly created SDM office at Jorethang, South Sikkim, it is added.
