GANGTOK, 06 May: One person has been arrested by the police on grounds of trespassing and impersonation in order to get access into the 17th Mountain Division Headquarters, Libing located at Deorali, Gangtok.
The person, Biswajeet Sharma, was apprehended by the army security personnel located at Ganju Lama Dwar late at around 10 p.m. on 05 May. He was apprehended as his movements seemed suspicious and was attempting to enter the army compound on false documents.
It is reported that Biswajeet Sharma, just over 20 years of age, had in his possession an army identification card supposed to have been issued to him from Nashik; in addition he also had a hand drawn road map from Durgapur to Sikkim and a pair of army overalls. After initial interrogation by the army he was handed over to the police late at night.
The Sadar police have booked the man for cheating by impersonation, criminal trespass and forgery for the purpose of cheating. He was produced before the courts today for police remand. As of now the antecedents of the person are not known though his connection with any controversial outfit is said to be unlikely.
