GANGTOK, 04 May: To prepare for the monsoons, SDM-Soreng, Ravindra Kumar called a coordination meeting of heads of all departments on 02 May in the conference hall of the Sub-divisional office.
A press release informs that during the meeting the SDM briefed the concerned departments regarding their roles and responsibilities to ensure a safe monsoon season in the sub-division.
He emphasized on the roles and responsibilities of the concerned department regarding the availability of required medicines related to water borne diseases, adequate reserve food in the godowns for emergencies, felling of trees along the roads that pose a threat, cleaning of choked drains and jhoras, measures to avoid short circuit in electrical transmission lines, availability of standby JCB in landslide prone areas along the roads, steps to avoid contamination of drinking water, etc.
He also called the attention of department heads to other issues related to cleanliness and hygiene, condition of Sub-Divisional Administrative Centre building, office timing and attendance, garbage disposal, maintenance of public toilets, etc.
Later, SDPO, ADC [Dev] and AE [Building and Housing deptt] of Soreng also shared their views and suggestions, the release mentions.
