MANGAN, 08 May: The North District Administration held a meeting cum inspection of strong room at Zilla Bhawan, Mangan, North district today.
The meeting was held under the supervision of RO cum DM (N), TN Kazi, SP (N), RN Yadav, ADC (N), R Yadav, SDPO Mangan, P Bhutia and attended by political party candidates and representatives of all three constituencies on North.
DM (N), in his address, said that polling was conducted peacefully in the district and expressed hope that political parties and the public will continue to maintain the peaceful environment after the election results as well. Everyone must work in coordination for the development of the district and to set an example of peace and security, he added.
ADC (N) informed that the counting process will start by 8 am on 16 May with the counting of the postal ballot which will be followed by counting of the EVM votes. It was also informed that the segregation of postal ballots will be carried out on 13 May at DAC, Election department control room in the presence of all party representatives. After segregation, ballot papers of other districts will be packed and sealed for dispatch and sent on 14 May. All the counting agents have to take an authorization letter from the candidates and they will be issued identity cards for attending the counting. All the candidates and agents should reach the counting centre on 16 May by 6 am as the strong room will be opened after 6.30 am at Zilla Bhawan, Mangan.
SDPO, Mangan informed all that the Police department has defined the vehicle parking areas for different political parties for smooth traffic and to avoid post poll violence. All candidates and supporters of political parties should cooperate to maintain peace and if anyone is found violating the rules or involved in post poll violence strict action as per law will be taken, it is informed.
