SG Lepcha sworn in as pro-tem Speaker

GANGTOK, 23 May [IPR]: Member of Legislative Assembly from Dzongu constituency, Sonam Gyatso Lepcha was administered the oath of office as the pro-tem Speaker for 9th Sikkim Legislative Assembly by Governor Shriniwas Patil at Ashirvad Bhawan, Raj Bhawan, Gangtok, today.
A Pro-tem Speaker is appointed by the Governor in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by clause (1) of Article 180 of the Constitution, to perform the duties of the Speaker till the Legislative Assembly chooses one Member as the Speaker.

Pro-tem Speaker, Mr Lepcha took the oath in presence of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Secretaries and HODs and several senior government officials.
