GANGTOK, 19 May: Interactors of Gangtok visited Darjeeling
on Sunday to spread the messages of ‘End Polio Now’ and ‘Stop Child Labour’.
A press release informs that a team of 90 interactors from
Baha’i school (Saramsa), PNGS, West Point school, Tathangchen school, TNSS led by
Prakash Sundas and Beena Sharma was flagged off from Titanic park by Praveen
Somani and OP Singhi.
The team was welcomed by delegates of interact clubs of Darjeeling.
On reaching Southfield college, Darjeeling, the team attended the annual
District Conference 2014 ‘Servetium’. The conference was hosted by Interact
club of St. Joseph’s North Point and Loreto Convent and was attended by
interactors from Kalimpong, Sikkim, Assam and Rotarians from Bangladesh.
Members of different clubs spoke on the projects each club
has undertaken within the past year. This was followed by a training session for
interactors by Prakash Sundas and Omang Agarwal.
In the award ceremony, Interact Club of Baha’i, Saramsa under
its president, Sanjana Chettri bagged the ‘best club’ award. Reppandee Lepcha
was adjudged the ‘best interactor’ and the Interact Club of PNGS as the ‘best
reporting club’. Interact club of West Point school also bagged the ‘best club
in community service’ and Tathangchen school bagged the ‘best upcoming club’
award.
Omang Agarwal of St. Joseph’s North Point, Darjeeling was
declared the best president and Samikcha Gurung of Loreto Convent, Darjeeling
the ‘best secretary’. The event was attended by Rotarians from Gangtok as chief
guests, the release adds.
