IRBn jawan attempts suicide

GANGTOK, 20 May: A jawan of the Indian Reserve Battalion posted at Ranipool was handed over to the police on charges of attempted suicide. The said constable of the 3rd IRBn, Saramsa is alleged to have attempted to kill himself in the toilet of the IRBn complex at Saramsa on the morning of 19 May. According to reports, the incident occurred at around 7:30 a.m. when all IRBn personnel were engaged in morning PT exercise. The said constable reportedly requested for a toilet break and subsequently, attempted to commit suicide by inflicting injuries on his person with sharp objects. He was taken to the CRH, Tadong and later taken into custody by the Ranipool police. He was released on surety bail after recording of his statement.
