NAMCHI, 19 May: The final selection for the 7th National Sub-Junior Poomsae and 32nd National Sub-Junior Taekwondo Championship 2014 was held at Gymnasium Hall, Namchi on Sunday. The championship is to be held from 05-08 June 2014 at Kurukshetra, Haryana.
Players from different Dojangs of the state participated in the selection camp where 23 players in different categories were selected who will be representing Sikkim in the tournament. Players were selected by representatives and referees of Sikkim Amateur Taekwondo Association from four districts of the state.
The selected players are Priyadarshini Jyoti Baniya (Namchi), Pema Gyaltsen Sherpa (Namchi), Pawandeep Rai (Namchi), Yogendra Rai (Gangtok), Sudershan Giri (Namchi), Shreya Tamang (Namchi), Saina Gurung (Namchi), Sulochana Subba (Uttaray), Ashish Dahal (NTA-Gangtok), Kushal Ghimirey (NTA-Gangtok), Sarrowan Gurung (Namchi), Dorjee Wangchuk Bhutia (NTA-Gangtok), Chandrahang Subba (Uttaray), Roshan Gupta (Gangtok), Ashlesha Sharma (Namchi), Himala Adhikari (NTA-Gangtok), Peggyla Bhutia (Gangtok), Chultim Palmu Bhutia (Gangtok), Sneha Pradhan (Namchi), Abisekh Pradhan (Gangtok),Nugnandini Chhetri (Gangtok), Pranisha Gurung (Namchi) and Divyadrishti Chhetri (Gangtok).
Assistant Coach, SATA, Rajen Subba congratulated all the players of the state and advised them to practice hard and also focus on what they have learnt from their coaches and trainers. He further said that Sikkim has given good performances at the national level in the past and this time also they are expecting good performances from the state’s players.
