GANGTOK, 21 May [IPR]: After being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Sikkim for the fifth consecutive term Pawan Chamling convened the first meeting of all Heads of Departments here at Chintan Bhawan today. The swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister and his Council of Ministers to the 9th State Legislative Assembly was held earlier this morning at Raj Bhawan, Gangtok.
In his address to the Heads of Departments, the Chief Minister stated that the Government has received the clear mandate of the people and has come back to power. The Government and bureaucracy should use this mandate positively to serve the people of the State, he added.
He called on the HODs to respect this mandate while implementing the policies and programmes of the Government.
The Chief Minister further made it loud and clear that implementation of all schemes and programs of the Government should be expedited and urged the HODs to take effective decisions and avoid delay in movement of files.
Mr Chamling also expressed his gratitude towards the Chief Election Officer and all officers and staff of Election Department, District Collectors, SPs, and all officers involved in the election process for the efficient conduct of elections.
“My Government will use the mandate in favour of the people and will continue working in the interest of the people of Sikkim,” he stated.
Earlier the opening remarks were made by Chief Secretary, R Ongmu, while the meeting concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Principal Secretary Home, MG Kiran.
Meanwhile, on his Facebook page the CM stated that all schemes must be implemented within one week after policy formulation and files should receive clearance within 24 hours. He further said, “It was on 12th December 1994 that I had addressed bureaucrats for the first time as the Head of the State Government. And as I begin my fifth term today I pledge to serve the people and continue to fulfill their aspirations”.
