Quake Update: No serious damage in South Sikkim

NAMCHI, 04 Oct [IPR]: Following the 5.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Sikkim on Thursday, the IPR department met with the DC South, Prabhaker Verma to obtain report on any damages or casualties that may have taken place in the South District. The DC informed that there has been no report of severe damage or casualties in the district. He however updated that the school building of Tingley Government Senior Secondary School has suffered minor cracks as reported to him by the panchayat member Bhanu Gurung. Everything has been found to be normal and there have been no reports of any damage from the GPUs, the DC stated. He further said that he has notified all the Zilla and Gram Panchayats to report to him on any damages related to the earthquake as ascertained by them.
