GANGTOK, 29 Sept: The High Court of Sikkim today held a meeting at the court premises to discuss the National Lok Adalat scheduled to be held on 23 November. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the High Court Judge and chairman of the Sikkim State Legal Services, Justice Sonam Wangdi.
Justice Wangdi informed about the significance of Lok Adalats and National Lok Adalat to be held in November throughout the state as per the directions of the National Legal Authority.
Further he also suggested to the participants to identify the disputes pertaining to land acquisition, family disputes especially in remote areas, compensation disputes regarding Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme etc.
The meeting was also attended by secretaries of the different departments along with the Registrar of the High Court, Member Secretary of the SLSA, District Collector East, Judicial Officers; ADCs, sub-divisional magistrates from South and North Districts, additional secretaries and the officers of Sikkim State Legal Services.
