GANGTOK, 04 Oct: The East District Administration has released its action taken report on Thursday’s earthquake. As per the report, immediately after the quake the administration collected the information from the Indian Meteorological Department of Sikkim and disseminated it through phone, bulk SMS and the social media to all the concerned authorities for necessary action as per the Disaster Management Plan.
The East District Administration coordinated with the Incident Commander of South, North and West Districts and no information of any casualty or damage was reported from them. The Section Head of Search and Rescue Unit and the Chief Medical Officer of East District were also alerted. All SDMs and GVKs were directed to collect information about damage and casualties and report immediately. The administration alerted the public and requested them to be calm and not to panic and requested them to follow precautionary measures to be done during the earthquake.
While no serious damage was reported on Thursday, the DC East today informed that reports of severe damage to the Tumin Secondary School has been received. The concerned Gram Vikash Adhikari has been directed to verify the report. Reports of damages to some of the buildings in-and-around Gangtok has also been received and are getting verified by the concerned officials, the DC informed.
