GANGTOK, 01 Oct: The special second general body meeting of Sikkim Olympic Association [SOA] was held under the chairmanship of its president, CK Basnet here at the conference hall of Paljor Stadium on 28 September. The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss and finalise the road map for holding the First State Games 2013.
A SOA release issued by its general secretary, Kuber Bhandari informs that after deliberations, the special general body meeting resolved to hold the first State Games this year. The five-day State Games is scheduled to be held from 11 to 15 December.
Mr Bhandari informs that the State Games was proposed with a vision to help athletes realise their full potential, develop their skills, conduct training and competition throughout the year.
“This will also be an opportunity for the state’s athletes of different categories to share skills and bond with each other,” the release adds.
It is added that the SOA has received confirmation of participation in the disciplines of Archery, Badminton, Taekwondo, Karate, Muay Thai, Body Building, Kick-Boxing, Table Tennis, Football, Chess, Wushu, Basketball, Boxing and Cricket.
The release informs that other sports associations, who were not present in the meeting, willing to participate can send details of their participation on or before 10 October 2013 to the Office of Sikkim Olympic Association at Paljor Stadium.
