Sikkim Mail editor to represent Sikkim in All India Editors Conference


GANGTOK, 08 Feb [IPR]: The Press Information Bureau is organizing the All India Editors Conference on Social Issues at Puducherry on 10 and 11 February, 2012. Editor of Sikkim Mail, an English daily, Ashit Rai will be attending the conference from Sikkim.
The conference will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ambika Soni and the Union Minister for Rural Development, Jairam Ramesh, Ministers and senior key Ministers including HRD, Water Resources, Tourism, HUPA, Environment Forest, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensioners will address the Conference. Each session begins with an opening statement by the concerned Union Minister, followed by Background Discussion and Question & Answer session.
The Conference will enable editors to get a detailed background of Government policies and programmes in the area of social and economic development and provide a platform for interaction with Ministers and senior officers. The conference will also provide an opportunity to the Government to get feedback from journalists specializing in these issues.
