Two arrested for theft at Jorethang


GANGTOK, 23 Feb: Two persons have been arrested by the Jorethang police for theft on 22 February.
According to a written complaint filed by Mingma Wangdi Tamang, the accused are both residents of Sumbuk/ Rangkaypong [West Bengal], Raj Kumar Rai and Manoj Para, staying at Jorethang at present and working as labourers at a site where the complainant is the supervisor. The accused were staying in the building of the contractor who hired them in Jorethang. On the same floor a their residence was a stock of iron rods for tower construction.
On 22 February at around 11.30 PM both the accused broke the window grill of the said room and stole the iron rods, which was witnessed by one of the neighbours and thereby caught by the police.
Both of them have been arrested by Jorethang police and a case under section 457/380/34 [lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment and theft in dwelling house] of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Jorethang Police Station.
