North Sikkim comes together in an effort to overcome the 18 Sept 2011 earthquake trauma


PUBLIC FROM ALL NORTH CONSTITUENCIES CONGRATULATE RAJYA SABHA MP HISSAY LACHUNGPA
MANGAN, 12 Feb:  Thousands of people of North District today assembled at the Public ground here on Saturday to observe togetherness and to send the message that the region is on its way back to normalcy after last year’s earthquake. The observance was attended by newly nominated Member of Rajya Sabha, Hissay Lachungpa as the chief guest accompanied by Minister for Power, Sonam Gyatso Lepcha, Minister for PHED, TT Bhutia, area MLA Lachen-Mangan, Tshering Wangdi Lepcha and Zilla Adhyaksha North, Khamsoong Lepcha.
The Panchayat and public from all three constituencies such as Lachen-Mangan, Dzongu and Kabi-Lungtsok offered garlands to Mr Lachungpa and expressed their happiness on his being nominated as the Member of Rajya Sabha.
Delivering his welcome address, MLA Lachen-Mangan, Mr Lepcha highlighted about the development being undertaken by the SDF government and appealed to the people to be united and work for the party.  He also informed the gathering abouth the construction of Ringhim Gumpa which was sanctioned by the Chief Minister during his visit of the North district during his village-to-village tour last year.
Power Minister, Sonam Gyatso Lepcha highlighted that the renewal of the party membership card is essential and urged everyone to go for it, adding that is not for the benefit of the party but for the people.  He informed that the candidature for the Panchayat elections would be based on the membership card.
The Minister expressed that Mr. Lachungpa has been contributing to the development of North Sikkim since the party’s inception.  He also appealed to all the Panchayat members to monitor the ongoing CMRHM which is for the people and further appealed to create a good environment in the district.
Likewise, the Minister for PHED, TT Bhutia highlighted about the developmental efforts of the SDF government like old age pension, CMRHM and expressed gratitude to the CM for nominating Mr. Lachungpa as the Rajya Sabha MP.  He also expressed that following the trauma that the people went through in last year’s earthquake, it is time for normalcy to be restored in the area.
The chief guest in his address, appealed to all three communities to be united in the developmental process and assured that he will undertake all pending work sincerely.   Urging all to keep the traditions alive, Mr. Lachungpa especially appealed to the youth to come forward.  He also spoke on the development brought about by the SDF government in the state.
A colorful cultural programme was also presented during the day which ended with the vote of thanks by former chairman, Chumki Saring Lepcha.
The function was also attended by Chairman Milk Union, Choden Lepcha, Zilla Up Adhyaksha, Pintso Doma Bhutia, former chairman, Loden Tsh Lepcha, Panchayat and Zilla members, members of Mangan Nagar Panchayat, party workers and the general public.
