GANGTOK, 23 Feb: The Dentam Development Block inaugurated its first pucca house constructed under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Mission on 21 February at Bhalukhop Namrangay Village in Upper Khandu Ward under Shanku Radhu Khandu GPU. A press release issued by BDO Dentam, Himmat Rai informs that this was also the first pucca house completed under Maneybong Dentam Constituency sanctioned under the Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Scheme and the first one storied RCC house in West Sikkim.
Area MLA, Chandra Maya Subba who is also the Chairperson of Block Rural House Construction Committee, Dentam Block officially inaugurated the house and handed over the final installment grant of Rs 1.00 lakh to the beneficiary, Shanta Bir Pantha. The total cost of the building is Rs 4.89 lakh and apart from this the site development for house was done under MG-NREGA at the cost of Rs 50,000. The beneficiary is also entitled to the incentive another Rs 10,000 as the house falls under early bird category.
This pucca house was regularly visited by all concerned block and district officials namely, the ADC (Development) West, BDO Dentam, Assistant Engineer, BAC and Panchayats, the release mentions. Though this was a purely owner driven pucca house, the support of Bishnu Kumar Panth in assisting the house construction has been acknowledged by the Nodal Department.
The inauguration was also witnessed by BB Bista, Upadhyaksha (West) and attended by ADC Development (West), Jitendra Singh Raje, BDO-Dentam, BAC and District Officials, Panchayats and local gentries.
