SDF holds district-level meeting at Namchi, agrees on committee to track schemes, ensure fair disbursement of earthquake relief


GANGTOK, 23 Oct: A district-level meeting of the ruling SDF party was convened on 21 Oct at the South district party office in Namchi. The meeting, chaired by the In-charge, South District, party vice-president GM Gurung was also attended by the party’s west Sikkim in-charge SB Subedi as special guest, informs a press release issued by the publicity secretary, Amber Rai.

The meeting discussed the formation of a team which would keep track sanctioned government programmes and schemes so as to ensure the success of the missions undertaken by the government, inspect any foul play that may arise during the distribution of earthquake relief and accordingly ensure delivery of relief in a proper manner and further clear doubts among the public concerning the rumours being spread on relief disbursement.
The meeting also resolved to hold meetings on 01, 02, 03, 04, 05 and 06 November at Poklong-Kamrang, Namchi-Singithang, Namthang-Rateypani, Barfung, Temi-Namohing and Rangang-Yangang constituencies and that all the party workers of the constituencies should attend these meetings.
It was also decided that in cases where the need of reconstitution of committees are felt, it should be taken up ensuring 50% women membership in the committees. The meeting co-ordinated by Rup Narayan Rai also deliberated on spreading awareness on the welfare of women, informs a press release.
