NAMCHI, 23 Oct: Strengthening environment education among villagers and students, Olives Academy, Bermiok, South Sikkim, organized a science seminar-cum-school fete yesterday at the school campus.
Stalls on environment awareness to spread the message along with different rural games were part of the day’s program organised by the school committee and students of Olives Academy.
Speaking to media persons, Proprietor-cum-Administrator, Olives Academy, Sifora Pega, informed that the school was established in July 2005 in collaboration with Digi School launched by HCL Company in Sikkim. The school has been upgraded to the seventh standard.
The objective behind establishing Digischool in Bermiok was to make the children of the area more competitive and provide better education through equipped teaching and easy learning. Highlighting on the objectives of the programme, Ms Pega said that this seminar-cum-school fete was organized in order to spread environment awareness amongst the villagers of this area and students of different surrounding schools.
She further said that the students of the Academy had worked hard with the help of faculty members in organizing this programme. The programme had also been organised in order to entertain students and villagers and take their minds off the fear and trauma caused by the 18 Sept earthquake.
CLC General Secretary, Dash Tamang , present as a guest at the programme, appreciated the programme and said that the institute had given a new dimension to the teaching and learning process in the area. “With these new learning methods, the phobia for new technology amongst our children will decrease and they can learn through easy methods in a scientific way”, he added.
Also present were Chief Coordinator of Farmers Club Bermiok, OT Dong, Principal Olives Academy, Puran Chandra Rai and the school staff.
