GANGTOK, 21 Oct [IPR]: The State Government has constituted a Committee to examine and address grievances of the students in the state vide a Government Gazette Notification dated 19 October 2011. The committee will be chaired by the Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department and the Director of Human Resource Development Department will be the Member Secretary of the Committee.
The Secretary, Social Justice, Empowerment and Welfare Department; Secretary, Human Resource Development Department; Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs Department and Secretary, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Department will be the members of the said committee.
The Committee will look into the complaints received and effectively liaison and coordinate with the line departments to ensure that the complaints of the students are addressed and work out a mechanism for guidance and evolve a methodology to redress the problems of the students.
The Committee will also take into account all the relevant rules and regulations implemented in the state to address such complaints. While acting as a bridge in interpreting the views of the administration to the staffs/students and vice versa the Committee will make necessary recommendations to the Government, for the benefit of the students and will also provide a forum for students to ventilate their grievances relating to school matters.
