9th DB Sir Memorial Open Inter School TT c’ship concludes

GANGTOK, 11 May: The valedictory function of the 9th edition of DB Sir Memorial Open Inter School Table Tennis Championship 2014 was held this afternoon here at Paljor Stadium indoor gymnasium hall. More than 150 paddlers from different parts of the state participated in the three-day championship which was organized by Sikkim Table Tennis Academy, Tadong under the aegis of Sikkim Table Tennis Association and Sikkim Veterans Table Tennis Association.
In his valedictory address, Sikkim Veterans Table Tennis Association president, SB Subba, who was present as the chief guest, congratulated the family members of Late DB Sir for organizing the championship for the last 9 years without any break. This initiative not only pays homage to Late DB Sir but also provides a platform for young paddlers of the state, he added.
Mr Subba encouraged young paddlers to continue training and participating in competitions to further hone their skills and game.
The junior boys’ team from Mangan lifted the team championship title. The team had Tsitiz Rai, Kamal Subba and Dinesh Limboo.  Sakyong Senior Secondary School with Paras Khatiwada, Robert Basnett and Binay Chettri bagged the silver medal.
The junior girls’ team championship was lifted by Paljor Namgyal Girls SSS. The team comprised of Kritika Rai, Anushika Sharma and Akansha Sharma. Prakriti Subba, Oisum Subba and Priscilla Pradhan of Tashi Namgyal Academy won the silver medal.
The winners of different events in various categories in the championship were also awarded with medals and trophies.
