RANGPO, 19 June: A co-ordination meeting on the Green Mission 2011 was organised by South District Forest Territorial at Namthang BAC hall today.
All Panchayat vice presidents, secretaries, members, delegates from NGOs and clubs, SHGs along with senior citizens and youth attended the meeting. The meeting began with a welcome address by Range Officer (T) Forest department, BS Tamang.
In the meeting, several resolutions were passed and participants gave a number of suggestions as well. A resolution was passed on technical aspects like plantation of species suitable to the altitude and climate of the area.
A ‘Circle Level Committee’ was formed during the meeting wherein each circle would be headed by officers from the Forest department and the concerned Panchayat member while members from NGOs, clubs, SHGs were also included in this new committee.
The committee will encourage and organise an awareness programme in the area for 100% participation in this Green Mission. DFO (T) South, Monalisa Das, present as chief guest, while addressing the meeting also shared some of her experiences.
