Singtam, 18 Sept: The Health Department yesterday undertook a door to door visit here yesterday to clean-up stagnant pools of water wherever they existed to wipe out the mosquito breeding areas and thereby address the spread of Dengue.
The medical inspection team of 30 was led by Mission Director, NRHM, Dr. PM Pradhan, ICMR scientist Dr. Siraj Khan, CMO-East Dr. T. Laden, JD IDSP Dr. Yalley, SI Roshan Rai and health officials. Team visited dengue affected areas of Golitar, Lal Bazar, Garage area in and around Singtam and also took on-the-spot action against those found responsible for stagnant pools of water in which dengue spreading mosquitoes could breed.
As per latest reports, despite of overall improvement the situation, special focus is given to few pockets of Golitar area since 36 positive cases were reported from this pocket alone.
During the six hour long health operation, Dr. Pradhan requested the community to cooperate on the matter and also directed the health officials to coordinate efforts with the police to wipeout all dengue breeding places.
