GANGTOK, 16 Sept: A 10-year-old girl has succumbed to injuries sustained after falling off a cliff in Pelling, West Sikkim. The girl died on the way to the STNM Hospital from Gyalshing District Hospital yesterday.
According to police reports, Awantika Rai [10], resident of lower Pelling and her three friends Rosma Rai [13], Sushanta [10] and Nisha Rai [12] had gone to the Chill-Kharka forest tract to collect ferns on 14 September. Awantika, Rosma and Sushanta slipped off a cliff from a height of approximately 25 feet. Nisha informed the parents who rushed the victims to Gyalshing Hospital. After administering first aid, the victims were referred to Gangtok and unfortunately, Awantika Rai succumbed to her injuries on the way to STNM.
