West Sikkim lad plays for Madhya Pradesh

GANGTOK, 02 Feb: Karma Gyaltsen Bhutia of Yangsum, under Rinchenpong constituency in West Sikkim, has been signed by MP United Football Club for this season’s second division I-League. He features as a stopper in the first-11 of the Madhya Pradesh club.
Karma Gyaltsen is already playing as a stopper for Madhya Pradesh in the ongoing Santosh Trophy at Goa this season.
Talking over the phone from Goa, Karma told Sikkim NOW that encouragement from his parents and good coaches in school days helped him hone his football skills. “I am very happy to be playing in the second division I-League and in Santosh Trophy which is a major boost for me and a great platform”, said Karma.
He thanked his father for inspiring him as a footballer in his school days. He did his schooling from Don Bosco in Soreng and later from Yangsum Secondary School, Rinchenpong.
Coach and Manager, Girls Football Academy Mangalbarey, Palden Bhutia further trained Karma. “We are very proud of his achievements. He is a very sincere, cool headed and well-disciplined player. I wish him every success in life”, said Palden Bhutia.
Karma was born to L T Bhutia and Kilhamu Bhutia in 1990 in Yangsum. After he was selected for SAI Namchi in the year 2009-10, he trained under coach Pempa Tshering Bhutia in the SAI academy and has played various tournaments within Sikkim and outside as well.
He is studying at the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, Gwalior (M.P) at present.
