GANGTOK, 03 Jan: Residents of Church Road and DPH area in the capital have requested increased police patrolling in their area following two burglaries in the past few days.
Last night, miscreants broke into a beauty parlour on the DPH Road through the main door and made away with cash from the counter. It is informed that although no other articles have been stolen, an unsuccessful attempt was made to take the television of the parlour as well.
It is informed that the shop was closed at around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday and at around 9:30 AM this morning an employee of the parlour found the main door open and the cash missing. The window of the parlour’s washroom was also found open from where, it is believed, the burglar escaped.
In another daring robbery at Church Road, Gangtok on 01 February, Alley Niwas was burgled sometime during the day and the culprit/s made away with a significant amount of cash and other items.
According to reports, the house was ransacked and silver bowls, silver utensils, cameras along with cash have been reported stolen. A case has been registered by the Sadar police; no one has been arrested so far.
