Committee set up to examine viability of Namchi Ropeway

GANGTOK, 05 Feb: The Tourism & Civil Aviation Department has put together a committee for the purpose of examining the safety features and viablity of public use of the Namchi Ropeway.
The Committee, headed by the Chief Engineer, Tourism, is to issue a ‘Fit for Passenger Traffic’ Certificate for the Namchi Ropeway.
Other members include Chief Engineers of UD&HD, Roads and Bridges and Power Department; also included is the Additional CE (S/W), Tourism, the Superintending Engineer (S/W), Divisional Engineer (South) and Assistant Engineer (South) all from the Tourism department.
A representative of the consultant company, M/S Rites Ltd, involved in the construction of the project, has also been included.
