GANGTOK, 02 Feb: Lok Sabha MP, PD Rai along with Rajya Sabha MP, Hishey Lachungpa and other members of the North-East MP’s Forum will be meeting all concerned including Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, to force all action possible to bring the culprits behind the attack on Nido Taniam of Arunachal Pradesh to book.
In a press release issued today, MP, PD Rai has condemned the incident stating “We wholeheartedly condemn this kind of racist slur and violence that happened in the middle of a major market in New Delhi”.
As per news reports, on 29 January Nido a student from Arunachal Pradesh was brutally beaten by shopkeepers at Lajpat Nagar in New Delhi following an altercation. Nido, the son of an MLA, later succumbed to his injuries.
“We have already expressed our solidarity with the father, Nido Pavitra, an MLA, and his family on behalf of the Chief Minister of Sikkim and the people of Sikkim at large. We have also sent our messages of solidarity with the MPs of Arunachal Pradesh, Mukut Mithi [Rajya Sabha] and Takam Sanjoy and to Ninong Ering, Minister of State in the Ministry of Minority Affairs”, Mr Rai informs.
The North East MPs Forum of which Mr Rai is one of the General Secretaries will be meeting all those concerned in Delhi.
