Vehicle runs over four at Convoy Ground

GANGTOK, 18 Oct: Four persons were injured today at Convoy Ground, Tadong, when a vehicle bearing registration No MH.-04BQ- 6719 ploughed out of control into them.
According to the police, the vehicle was parked at Convoy Ground and when the driver tried to start the vehicle, it suddenly lurched forward hitting four persons standing on the road side waiting for a taxi. Following this, the out of control vehicle then hit a parked vehicle nearby.
The Police have arrested the driver, Phurba Tshering Lepcha, a 38 year-old resident of  Lingchey, West Bengal.
Loka Bahadur Pradhan, [33] resident of Duga, East Sikkim and Mandeep Chettri [21] resident of Lower Sumin, were seriously injured and are admitted at the STNM hospital. While, Nibedita Bhowmik [21] resident of Tadong and Nayanka Bhowmik [3] have been admitted to the Central Referral Hospital, 5th Mile Tadong.
Police have filed a case under section 279/336/337/338 IPC against the driver at the Sadar Police Station.
