GANGTOK, 14 Oct: Trilok Subba, 6th Dan black belt and international taekwondo player from Sikkim, represented India at the 3rd Scottish Open Poomsae Taekwondo Championship held in Grangemouth, Central Scotland on 08 October, informs a SATA release.
He competed in the individual 1st Masters category, the Pairs category and the 2nd Team category. There were over 200 players from 20 different teams taking part in the competition which was organised by the Central Taekwondo Academy in Scotland, under the banner of the United Taekwondo Association, the release informs.
Mr Subba had a successful run at the championship winning 2 gold medals and 1 bronze. He won his first gold in the team event, where he teamed up with Yousuf Dildar, from the Great Britain team, and Jorn Anderson, who was representing Denmark.
His second gold came in the Pairs category, where Trilok Subba partnered the current Great Britain 1st Masters female champion and world number 9, Angie Bailey, of Scotland. In the individual category, he won a bronze, superseded by the current UK Champion, Yousuf Dildar and Glen Culbert from Northern Ireland, by a very narrow margin, the release informs.
Mr Subba was also presented with a special trophy by the competition's referee director, Grandmaster Tong Wan Shin, 9th Dan (the current and twice World Champion), for being the best player in the Masters divisions, the release adds.
