GANGTOK, 10 Aug: Henceforth, only those candidates possessing graduate degrees and above qualifications will be eligible for the post of Sub-Inspectors in Sikkim Police. Earlier, Class XII passed candidates were also eligible for the post.
This new rule came into effect after the Department of Personnel, Adm. Reforms, Training & Public Grievances issued a Notification on 15 July amending the Police Force (Recruitment, Promotion and Seniority) Rules, 2000.
The Notification reads, “In the Sikkim Police Force (Recruitment, Promotion and Seniority) Rules, 2000, in Schedule-II, in serial number 1 against the post of Sub-Inspector, under the column 8 “Eligibility Condition” for the words and figure “Class XII passed”, the words “Degree from a recognized University” shall be substituted.”
The Notification further states that these rules will be called the Sikkim Police Force (Recruitment, Promotion and Seniority) Amendment, Rules, 2011 and it will come into force at once.
