GANGTOK, 14 Aug: A month-long awareness and fund-raising campaign dedicated to the children of Hope Home Orphanage concluded with a colorful function held at Tadong on Saturday.
An initiative of a newly formed organization, “Nine Lives”, the program included cultural presentations by the children of the orphanage.
Started in the year 2005 by Jyoti Limboo the Hope Home at Samdur Basti has thirteen children at present.
“We deeply thank the Nine Lives Organization and all our supporters who have been generously helping us to run the home,” conveyed Pastor DK Limboo, the co-founder of the home.
He said the home was started with the aim to provide shelter and nurture to orphans.
Tshering Bhutia, one of the members of Nine Lives organization, informs that the fund raising program is the first venture of the organization.
She said the team will work on nine social initiated in the state of Sikkim.
“For one month we campaigned in front of Denzong cinema hall making people aware about the existence of the Hope Home and the response from the people was overwhelming,” she informed.
She informed that the Nine Lives has targeted to raise Rs 1.5 lakhs for the home.
The children were also presented gifts by the organizers. The members of the Sikkim Human Rights Organization also attended the function.
