Meeting held for West Booth Level Officers

GYALSHING, 30 Mar [IPR]: A meeting with the West district Booth Level Officers (BLOs) which was chaired by the Returning Officer, Tshewang Gyatso was held at Community Hall on 29 March.
In his address, Mr Gyatso briefed those present about the roles and responsibilities of BLOs in the upcoming elections. He stated that for the mechanism to function successfully, they must work responsibly and effectively. BLOs must ensure that in every polling booth, ramps are built, proper power supply is maintained and toilet facilities provided for the convenience of the people, he said further directing the BLOs not to involve any Panchayat or its members in election related works.
The Returning Officer further directed the BLOs to set up ‘help desks’ for the benefit of the general public on the polling day from 7 am till 5 pm. If any political party wishes to set up their own help desk, then it is mandatory for it to be at least 200 metres away from the polling booth.
A special camp to issue voter slips to voters of the state was organized on Sunday at all Polling Stations of the state. The BLOs were stationed at their respective Polling Stations from 9 am throughout the state to issue voter slips to the voters. The RO also clarified that voters should either bring their voter slip or the EPIC Card on the poll day i.e 12 April 2014 to cast their vote.

On the occasion new voter slips, electoral cards were also handed over to the BLOs.
