Chamling reaches North on campaign trail WANGCHUK BHUTIA

DIKCHU, 30 Mar: Sikkim Democratic Front [SDF] party president, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling today announced the establishment of a Girls College in North Sikkim when it forms the next government.
While addressing the people of Dzongu at a public meeting here at Namprikdang, Mr. Chamling also announced the establishment of a residential school in Dzongu, establishment of one girls hostel, construction of Ropeway at Upper Dzongu, construction of a bridge at Sakyong, construction of eco-tourism footpath at Hee-Gyathang and construction of Manghim at Mangshila and upgradation of the Dikchu-Sangkalang and Lingthem road which is under BRO as per the demands of the people of Dzongu.
Construction of Buddha Statue at Passingdong in Upper Dzongu, construction of Durga Mandir at Robi-Chongthong village, making Dzongu self-reliant and contract works and jobs at NHPC stage IV to be given to Dzongu residents were some of the other assurances made by Mr. Chamling today.
He urged the people to go through the SDF manifesto to learn about the development plans prepared by the party for the state. The next SDF government will work towards making the people of North Sikkim self-reliant, stated Mr. Chamling.
Upgradation of CMRHM pucca house to two storied structures, increase in house upgradation grant to Rs. 50,000, upgradation of Singhik Secondary School to senior secondary level, establishment of Gram Vikash Kendra at Kazor, construction of new monastery at Toong-Naga, major protection work at Rabong Khola, free electricity in rural areas, interest-free CMSES loans for all unemployed youths, laptops and increase in salary of all Panchayats and Pipons, regularisation of all adhoc employees, increase in salary of monastic teachers, free education for BPL students, price support for farmers, development of home stays and tourism spots at each ward.
Earlier, delivering the welcome address, SDF candidate from Dzongu, Sonam Gyatso Lepcha said that a lot of development has taken place in Dzongu under the SDF government and expressed his gratitude to the party president for the same.
SDF Lok Sabha candidate, PD Rai informed that he will work more for the state and its people in Delhi and added that the party has been continuously raising the issue of bringing Karmapa to Sikkim at the centre.
While addressing the meeting at Mangan for Lachen-Mangan constituency, Mr. Chamling said that no power project will be constructed at Lachen and Lachung as demanded by the people. He also said that the roads in the district will be improved and extra funds will be allocated to the Dzumsa. The SDF government has been trying to resolve the Karmapa issue, he stated and added that the next government will definitely bring the Karmapa to Sikkim.
Assuring the protection of BL and Sangha seats he stated that the Limboo-Tamang Tribal seat reservation process is under progress and will be passed soon. Mr Chamling also announced income tax exemption for businessmen, transfer of trade license to family members in case of death of the original licensee, formation of business welfare board, construction of Guru Rinpoche statue at the Gurudongmar lake area.
Speaking on the opposition, the SDF president urged the public to be careful and alleged that the SKM party was trying to misguide the public and disturbing the peaceful environment in the state. “So, before casting their vote the public should think well and judge the contributions of the SDF party,” he said.
SDF candidate, Lachen-Mangan, TW Lepcha in his address expressed confidence that the SDF party will form the next government and assured the SDF party president that he will win the election with a majority of votes.
