Rolep School sends off CM’s Merit scholarship student with a felicitation

GANGTOK, 30 Mar: Rolep Secondary School celebrated the selection of one of its students for the prestigious Chief Minister’s Merit Scholarship Scheme with a special felicitation cum farewell programme on Friday, 28 March. Ashika Chettri (Acharya), now in class VI, is now proceeding on full scholarship to a school outside the State after having passed the state-level CMMSS exam. This year, 129 students were selected for the scholarship. Of these, four are from schools in the Regu BAC to which the Rolep School also belongs.
The felicitation at Rolep was chaired by the Headmaster BN Khatiwada, and attended by the staff and students and included a felicitation of Ashika’s parents – Diwas and Renuka Chettri - as well.
Rolep Secondary School is located in a remote village of East district.
The function was also addressed by Ashika who expressed gratitude towards her parents, Headmaster and teachers for their support and expressed gratitude towards the Chief Minister for having envisioned such a scheme. The programme was also addressed by the senior most teacher of the school Meena Gurung.
Ashika was also invited to distribute participation certificates of the painting competition held at the school last year.
