SDF-SKM file charges against each other on Tinkitam scuffle

GANGTOK, 01 Apr: Politically motivated charges have been registered by both the SDF and the SKM parties with the Ravangla police station. Both the parties have alleged obstruction of their respective campaigning by the other. While the Ravangla police has registered a rioting case against the SKM and arrested 3 persons, who were later released on bail. The charges against the SDF supporters of Ravangla consist of wrongful restraint and criminal intimidation with no arrests as yet.
The case against the SKM supporters is that they obstructed the SDF campaign underway at Tinkitam on 31 March in the late afternoon. The SKM supporters are alleged to have arrived in about 10 vehicles and obstructed the way of the SDF supporters and also alleged to have assaulted one person causing him injuries. The 3 SKM supporters arrested were Sonam Pintso Bhutia, Kumar Chettri and Dhan Bahadur Rai; they were later released on bail.
On the other hand the SKM has alleged that it was the SDF supporters who had obstructed the SKM campaign. The SKM supporters were, supposedly, on their way to Tinkitam for campaigning and while on the way, were obstructed by the SDF supporters. The Ravangla police is looking into the complaint.
