GANGTOK, 24 Nov: The Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee [SPCC] has announced that Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje will be visiting Sikkim in January next year and has claimed credit for having made this visit possible.
In a press release, SPCC president, Kunga Nima Lepcha, states that the Karmapa will be visiting Phodong Monastery in North Sikkim in January 2014 and that the visit is the result of “a decision taken in the review meeting of the SPCC called by All India Congress Committee, vice president, Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on 05 November”.
He adds that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling “has totally failed in its efforts to bring the Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje to Sikkim and this casts doubt over the state government’s concern regarding the matter”.
“The people of Sikkim should be extremely grateful to AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, Political Secretary to Sonia Gandhi, AICC general secretary, Ahmed Patel, Sikkim In-charge, Luizinho Faleiro, AICC senior leaders and Government of India for considering the long cherished dream,” Mr Lepcha has stated.
He has further urged the state’s public to have full faith in SPCC to bring the Karmapa to Sikkim.
