GANGTOK, 26 Nov: Two bodybuilders from Sikkim State Bodybuilding Association [SSBA] have returned with two bronze medals from the 11th Mr. Eastern India Bodybuilding & 4th Women Fitness Championship 2013 held on 22-23 November 2013 at Rourkela, Odisha.
The championship was organized by the Odisha Body Building & Fitness Association where more than 100 participants from the nation participated. Two SSBA members, Pema Dorjee Bhutia [70 above kg], who’s also the Mr. Sikkim [2009] and Llyod Hazarika [70 kg] participated in the championship. The team was led by Team Manager cum national level judge, IB Gurung along with Coach cum national level judge, Sunil Gurung.
“It wasn’t easy at all to compete with such strong contestants who had come from different parts of the nation but I gave my best and am happy with my performance,” said Pema Dorjee Bhutia during a press conference held here in the capital today.
“This is my seventh time at the championship where I have won silver and bronze medals four times. I hope to win gold in the upcoming championships and make the state as well as SSBA proud”, he stated.
Chief State Coach [SSBBA], IB Gurung, said that he is satisfied with the performance of the state’s body builders. He expressed gratitude to the public of Sikkim for their support. Coach Sunil Gurung also addressed the gathering today.
An SSBA team is all set to participate in the All India Federation Cup 2014 slated to be held in the month of February 2014 at Midnapur, Kolkata.
