MANGAN, 24 Nov: MLA, Lachen-Mangan constituency, Tshering Wangdi Lepcha, convened a meeting with people from five wards of the Mangan Nagar Panchayat on 22 November, last Friday.
The programme was also attended by MNP councilors Karma Jigdal Bhutia, PK Malu, Zangmoo Bhutia and others along with senior citizens, business community representatives, youth and members of the SDF party’s cheli morcha.
The programme started with welcome address by MNP President KJ Bhutia.
During the open discussion, the people pointed out that the water tank above Mangan Post Office which was constructed a year back to supply water to Mangan bazaar was not functioning. They demanded that water supply be started at the earliest. Other demands included maintenance of road link towards lower Mangan bazaar, construction of a Durga Mandir near the new taxi stand and approval of a suitable site for a graveyard for the Muslims of Mangan.
The upper Mangan bazaar, Pentok ward residents demanded a Police booth at Pentok for proper patrolling in the area while upper bazaar cheli morcha sought an exposure tour to Kolkata.
The area MLA in his address, assured that the maintenance works and water supply problems will be solved at the earliest. He said that the Durga Mandir and site for graveyard will be discussed with the government and department officials as soon as possible. He also informed that, the government is trying its best to develop Mangan bazaar and provide necessary facilities in a phase wise manner. He also, informed that the names of those who hold voter ID cards should be shortlisted by councilors for provision of free schemes and grants in the upcoming Janata Mela 2013.
He also asked the public to share their problems directly with him so that the matter can be taken up for consideration as soon as possible.
