SSP meets in Pakyong

GANGTOK, 25 Sept: Sikkim Sangram Parishad held a meeting at Pakyong Bazaar today which was presided over by former Chief Minister of Sikkim and the party president, Nar Bahadur Bhandari.
In his address, Mr Bhandari stressed on safeguarding Article 371 [f] of the Indian Constitution which provides for the protection of Sikkim’s old laws. He also highlighted issue of Sikkim Subject certificate, inner line permit amongst other issues.
Mr Bhandari stated that work which is pro-poor and pro-Sikkimese will be started as soon as the SSP party comes to power. If the party comes to power, the government will provide 50 units of free electricity to the poor and needy, he added.
The party’s working president, Rajendra Upreti highlighted that it was during SSP’s tenure that the Nepali language was included in the 8th schedule of the constitution. He went on to allege that under the SDF rule the old laws protected under Article 371 [f] are being diluted time and again.
Other office bearers of SSP also addressed the meeting today.
