NAMCHI, 25 Sept: A five-year-old girl admitted at the District Hospital Namchi died of suspicious injuries here on 22 September. The minor had been admitted to the district hospital on 20 September after being referred by the Jorethang PHC. Doctors at the hospital examined her thoroughly and provided all necessary treatment but could not save her as her condition deteriorated.
The medical report indicates a case of sexual assault on the minor, but the parents have denied any such incident, it is informed. On 22 September, SDM Namchi on the directions of District Collector [South] had also visited the ailing girl at the Namchi hospital.
The girl’s relatives in Nayabazar inform that she had recently returned from a visit to her native village in Bihar. She had reportedly returned with the suspicious wounds and injuries which led many to suspect that she was a victim of sexual assault.
