Month-long Positive Intervention Programme for the youth in South Sikkim

NAMCHI, 24 Sept: A month-long Positive Intervention Programme on HIV/ AIDS, substance abuse, alcoholism, voluntary blood donation and life skills is underway in South District. The programme is being organized for the youth, panchayats, Block Development Officers, members of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs), ASHA and other similar organizations.
Launched on 23 September, the programme is being organized and sponsored by Red Ribbon Club, South District in collaboration with Sikkim State Aids Control Society.      
The month-long programme with the theme “Youth with strong roots for a healthy future” has begun from a remote village of Rolak Block under South District. All the Block Administrative Centers (BACs) under South District will be covered during the programme.
In order to convey the message on social and self development among the participants the programme includes many informative items like short skit on substance abuse, HIV/AIDS and other social evils showing their ill effects on an individual’s life and society, the skit will also be performed by members of RRC South District.
The programme also includes open quiz competition, creative games based on social issues and short speech on motivational topics with prizes for the best performers. The resource persons for the entire programme are members from Red Ribbon Club South District, members of NGOs, medical officers and members of Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and ASHA who will address the gathering and enlighten them on different aspects of life.
