GANGTOK, 22 Sept: A meeting of Gangtok Task Force (GTF) was held at Hotel Tashi Delek on Saturday. The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor, Shakti Singh, DIG Range, Dr. MS Tuli, Director, Vigilance Department , S Sridhar Rao, Superintendent of Police, East District, Manoj Tiwari, Commandant, Sikkim Armed Police, Tashi Wangyal, SDPOs and SHOs of surrounding towns, other police personnel along with members and office bearers of Gangtok Task Force.
The members welcomed SP East as the new president (ex officio) of Gangtok Task Force. The members exchanged ideas and suggestions regarding activities that the organisation could take up in the future. They also expressed their concern over the rising problem of drug abuse among the youth. Discussions were held on issues that demand immediate attention, like parking problems, increasing suicides, sensitisation programmes for taxi drivers, awareness camps for youth etc.
It may be recalled that Gangtok Task Force was constituted to improve the civic scenario of Gangtok town. It has carried out numerous cleanliness drives and campaigns for a cleaner Gangtok since its inception. Gangtok Task Force is committed to work in tandem with the vision of the State Government to make Sikkim a model state.
